Flash! Ah-ah!
As you may have noticed, Supernova Books has recently closed the doors of its Raine Square shop. But never fear: later this month, Supernova will re-open, trading under the name of
Fantastic Planet. We’ve found new premises at 8 Shafto Lane, between Hay and Murray Street, close to 78 Records, Quality Comics, Empire Toys, and Millenium Products. The new store will have half as much space again, and we intend to fill this by increasing our range of science fiction and fantasy books to the biggest ever seen in Perth.
The new manager is
Elaine Kemp, formerly manager of A Touch of Strange science fiction and fantasy bookshop, and co-ordinator of this year’s West Australian Science Fiction Convention, Swancon 30. The new book buyer and consultant is
Stephen Dedman, formerly manager of The Space Merchants science fiction and fantasy bookshop, employee of Supernova Books and Simulations/Kite City, purchasing manager for A Touch of Strange, and internationally published award-winning author. They will be assisted by other staff members who have been hand-picked for their charm and their expertise (or because they’re the manager’s son).
We’ll be selling some of our old hardcovers and paperbacks very cheaply to make room for new titles, and as a welcome back gift to our old customers, Fantastic Planet has a range of books signed by some of the genre’s best loved authors: Neil Gaiman, Robin Hobb, Poppy Z. Brite, Megan Lindholm, Glenda Larke, and Trudi Canavan, with more to come. Be one of the first to buy a book from these authors from us, and you could take home a signed copy!
Fantastic Planet will be bringing in more signed editions, as well as hosting book launches and author signing sessions in the near future, so keep reading these missals!
